United States Air Force Academy Parents’ Association of Nebraska Meeting Minutes

The spring meeting was held at the residence of Treasurer/Secretary, Greg and Vickie Young in Lincoln, NE. The meeting was called to order by President, Terry West. Introductions were made by parents reporting about their cadet’s current activities.

Minutes from the November 17, 2007 meeting were read and approved.

The treasurer’s report was given by Greg Young. He reported that the All Academy produced $7,000. There was a $17,000.00 cash flow in and out for the All Academy Ball. This pattern was created by the purchased meal tickets which were self supporting; cadet door prizes; entertainment, etc. He reported the patch gross sales since we started the project was $4,500.00. There was a $500.00 donation in 2006 to the Rando Fund. There was not a donation made in 2007. The report was approved and accepted.

Old business:
A tax exempt status was discussed and decided to be initiated.
Graduation gifts for the 2008 graduating cadets will be shoulder board for their mess dress. The shoulder boards will be used for their commissioning ceremony.
President, Terry West thanked everyone for their All Academy Ball participation at the Offutt Air Force Base Officer’s Club. Karen Stecker was thanked as committee chair of the Ball.
The Navy Parents Association was given their $600.00 seed money for their All Academy Ball planned in December 2008. Four people from each branch will need to help with the ball in the future. There are wine glasses left over from the ball available.

New business:
Fund raising report: The final design for the 2009 was reviewed. The Patch Proof #3 was voted to be the 2009 patch. Patch sales have exceeded estimations and have determined to be a class patch not just a recognition patch. Overall they have done well.
The new officers will meet following the regular meeting. The new officers are:
Dave and Susan Biba –President
Hal and Carol Wagner -Vice President
Deanne Favinger –Treasurer/Secretary, Fund Raiser
Dave Cooke- Web Site
Email will continue to be used to communicate with members.
ALO officer, Dennis, sent an update:
      53 Applications for USAFA
      4 are confirmed with P.O. Box Numbers
      4 appointment offers out but not accepted
      3 Prep School applicants to USAFA
      Total of 32 Nebraska cadets.
A donation of $200.00 is to be made to the Rando Fund.
The next meeting is scheduled in June for the Appointee Luncheon. It is important for club members to attend. Name tags will be ordered from Omaha Rubber Stamp.
The executive meeting will be at York, Nebraska to determine duties and timelines of the new executive committee.
President, Terry West adjourned the meeting.
Members participated in a BBQ following the meeting.
